"Greenman in Spring", by Dante Ambriel

     This has been a year of amazing discoveries in ceramics for me.
While wedging clay for a new bowl shape, I “saw” a form emerge.
I felt that there was a figure held in the clay and all I had to do was to facilitate it and set it free.
I continued to work with the figure and finally it stood in front of me like a being on it’s own.
Next the figure seemed to need garments and those garments needed embellishing, carving and impressing.
Sometimes, it seemed to demand colour, gilding and many firings to finally emerge finished.

This process is continuing to bring new and evolving figures into surprising and unexpected forms.
